Drive south on the Innisfail road. The gorge turn off is on the right 5km past the Mulgrave River bridge at Gordonvale. Drive to the car park at the end of the road. Follow the concreted track up the valley for about 3km until you reach the gate. Make your way down to the creek and pool on the left.
This is one of the best creek swimming experiences in North Queensland.
A fantastic natural amphitheatre of rocks with a cascade streaming over the granite and ferns into the deep and clear pool. You need a minimum of 4 hours to do this (I hour return drive, 2 hrs return walk, 1 hr swim) but worth every minute of the effort to walk up and back.
Your kids will not want to leave this brilliant place so why not make a fun day of it. Just bring plenty of picnic things.
No need to carry water with you because the creek water is fine - it's the water supply for the south side of Cairns.
Walking back to the carpark along the pipeline
